Get out of our way

There is a cabal, a cadre so to speak of mindless myrmidons that will accept anything that is done, no matter what, as long as it furthers their agenda. The convoluted gallimaufry of programs and packages put forth in the last year are mind-boggling. To prove that point we have the stimulus, which very few have read and even fewer understand. Fewer still know where the monies have gone, as long as they get their payoff they are good to go with just about anything. Now they are looking at some of the remainder of the stimulus package that was suppose to be spent going forward as a slush fund for their pet projects. Once Washington politicians get their hands on a pile of money, it’s party time. It matters not one iota if it is disastrous to the hard working hoi- polloi, the every day citizens, you know, the people who actually do things in this country? Yeah those. Now that term hoi polloi is generally used in a pejorative sense, derogatory, well guess what, that is exactly how our so-called erudite solons see us. Oh yeah, they see us as the masses who don’t know enough to take care of themselves, so they have to step in to the breach to straighten us out, since we are hardly capable of tying our own shoe laces. Thank God for small miracles aye? How about this? How about they get the hell out of our way and let us do what we do best, build the most powerful, prosperous, benevolent country that has ever been on this planet. Instead the government wants to stifle the entrepreneurial spirit and the capitalist free market system and replace it with total dependency upon the state. It didn’t work for Rome. It didn’t work for Russia. It didn’t work for China. It didn’t work for Cuba. It didn’t work for Eastern Europe either well you get the idea. Why is it that most socialist countries are leaning towards capitalism and we are headed the other way? The answer to that would be, because there is something wrong with our leaders. Socialism is nothing more than a ponzi scheme, or a pyramid scheme. It works for the top few tears and from there down all hell breaks loose and it’s every man for himself. The problem with that is that there is hardly anything left after the top few get theirs. That my friends is basically an oligarchy. I don’t know about you but that’s not what I want for this country. How’s that change working out for you? The spin on any given subject from unemployment to global warming is unprecedented, well maybe not so much, this has been going on as long as our elected officials have mastered the fine art of apostasy, that is giving up the ethics, morals, ideals and party, accept in their case they do it all FOR the party and the hell with the rest of us. (I’m sure there is a word for that; I just haven’t run across it yet.) There is no such thing as veritas in their vocabulary either. They are nothing more than whores, oh wait, that’s not right, they do it for money so that would actually make them prostitutes. I hope they are getting their money’s worth because we certainly are not.

I pledge allegiance

Definition:

I pledge Allegiance

1 a : the obligation of a feudal vassal to his liege lord b (1) : the fidelity owed by a subject or citizen to a sovereign or government (2) : the obligation of an alien to the government under which the alien resides
2 : devotion or loyalty to a person, group, or cause, commitment, duty, loyalty.

The meaning of those words are changing in this country.

We left the other allegiances behind when we established this new country, the ones that pledge to a sovereign, or to any one person. We now pledge allegiance to something bigger than ourselves, we pledge allegiance to this wonderful experiment we call the United States of America. Would someone please explain to me how it is that now we hear all these songs to one man, why we hear that the country is no good but one man is so wonderful, that they awarded him the Nobel Peace Prize for talking and thinking about doing things. What the hell is that all about? I don’t want to say it was set up and pre selected, but when the man gets nominated twelve days into his administration and nominations closed a few scant days before he was elected, that stinks to high heaven. As do many of the so-called wonderful things that are talked about. It’s just as bad as all the black community voting for him because he is half black. What in the hell has that got to do with anything? I would have voted for him in a heartbeat if he were the best man for the job. Have any of you heard the totally idiotic reasons people are giving for voting for him? It is truly embarrassing. What is it with the black community supporting Democrats to begin with? They are getting more and more of the same ol, “we’re going to do this for you, and we’re going to do that for you,” when in reality it has been the Republican party that has done more towards equality than any other entity, but lets call a rose a rose here.

I am independent and don’t really hold my allegiance to any politician. I believe they are all out for themselves. Why else would anyone spend ten times or more of what their salary would ever be to have a job. The answer is that they don’t look upon it the way it is suppose to be, “service to the country or constituents.” They look upon it as a meal ticket. If you don’t think so just check out what they really make and their benefits. If they are not millionaires when they are elected, they are soon after. So back to the allegiance, some in this country are enamored with this man who talks a good story, but walks the walk of a typical Chicago politician. We are headed down the wrong path here in this country. Our liberty and freedoms are getting slowly eroded with the policies that are being put forth. Again if you are not convinced think about this, people who have total power, who are not elected and don’t have to be vetted by congress and don’t have to explain their actions to anyone accept one man. I’m talking about the thirty plus czars that are now entrenched in our representative government.

Bottom line, I really believe that things would have been much better off if the government did nothing but stop the insane lending practices. At the end of the day the free market system would have adjusted and we would be closer to a recovery than we are now. Case in point the government wants to keep giving money to people in the form of help for mortgages and loans, when in reality what they should be doing is creating jobs so they can pay their bills on an on-going basis. The money they are offering now is just putting off the inevitable. They should have offered a deferment perhaps, that would have given time to get a job and spend the money on creating jobs not handouts. What is the way to create jobs and assure a growing economy? Easy enough cut taxes and cut government spending, instead of growing government and taxing people who are not even born yet.

Some people measure compassion by how many people they help with handouts. I say measure compassion with how many people no longer need the help because you have enabled them to support themselves.

what ever hapened to ????

Bringing the country to its knees.
Why was the stimulus bill basically to pay back democratic supporters instead of stimulate the economy as promised?
We have pork barrel projects that are unending, expanding government to near socialist levels, it's a matter of percentage not ideology, France at 57 % England at 54 % we are approaching 45% and will exceed that if cap and trade and government run health care is allowed to go forward. Once we reach the over 50% level than that's it we are officially a socialist country, how's that working out so far for the countries in Europe that are socialist? answer, it isn't. They are all heading closer and closer to capitalism while we are heading the other way. What is wrong with this picture?
Has Obama kept any promises from the campaign trail. I realize he is a walking bumper sticker but that doesn't get it done. What ever happened to the promise of transparency? What ever happened to changing politics as usual, what ever happened to draining the swamp in Washington? It's worse than ever now that our political hacks have an endless supply of our tax dollars. Well guess what, it isn't endless. I understand the idea of wanting to change things that are screwed up but you don't do it by expanding government and you can't fix the ills of the past forty years all at once, it's just insane to think that can be done. The way we are going bankruptcy is the end game and then we have squat for economy and health care and all the rest of the comforts we have come to enjoy. We got to where we are by the entrepreneurial spirit and capitalism in this country, not by total government intervention. Should we have health care for everyone? of course the most developed country on the planet should have that and even education right on through college, we could afford it if it were done correctly. When Canada started their socialized health care it was to be as the system they want to initiate here. The government says you will be able to keep your health care. Eventually the government system shoulders out the private health care because it just can't compete with the government sponsored system. That leads to health care that works on lower fees to the medical profession. On the surface that may sound good, but wait. There will be less and less people entering the medical profession and people that are already in that field will tend to go on to other endeavors. There will be less providers therefore less time and to many patients so there will have to be care by committee to decide who gets what when. That is the disaster in Canada and Europe. Lest we forget that in these times of cost cutting, we will see companies giving up the coverage of their employees and opting for the government coverage. Who wouldn't if it meant a tremendous savings for the private companies to have the burden shouldered by each and every taxpayer. They keep saying we can't afford not to do it, well we can't afford to do it the way they are talking. Here are the basics. The government could serve as an oversight entity, only that and nothing more. Allow the entrepreneurial spirit to flourish and the government can just make sure we are not getting ripped off. That actually is the role of government the way we set it up. This government controlled business situation is totally unacceptable and against all this country was built on. Having all these ideals is fine but you have to walk before you run. It didn't get screwed up over night and no sane person should expect it to be fixed over night. I wrote a short story named; (Too Close for Comfort)
I think I'll attach it just for the heck of it.
What ever happened to the great uniter? As I mentioned in an earlier blog post Obama is proving to be the great divider. With his policies, his statements at news conferences, such as the latest about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley. Who prefaces a statement by saying I don't have all the facts and then proceeds to admonish one side over the other? That in and of it self is bad enough, but when the president of the United States is the one making the statement that only adds to the division and friction between people. It in no way unites anyone.

Too Close for Comfort

The year is, well, you pick it, but it isn’t to far off. The country has been in extremis now for quite some time. People have been forced to make decisions they thought were in their best interest. The wonderful elected solons that we laughingly call politicians have been consistently making the wrong decisions for so long, that things have gone all the way around the bend. The country in turn being demagogued into voting what was borne out to be the absolute wrong way on so many so called fixes. All of which had given more control to the government and taken away more and more from the people. Somewhere along the line we forgot, or got bamboozled into thinking that the power flows from the government to the people not the way it was intended by the founding fathers, namely from the people to the government. With every new program and tax and spend scam came a downward spiral that at first appeared to be the salvation of a country gone wrong. Only when it was to late did we realize the folly of these do-gooder programs. A Democratic president has been in power for some time. The Congress and Senate are a Democratic majority and the country is nearly bankrupt, not only monetarily, but morally as well. That lopsided political playing field was brought about not so much by the Democrats being better than the Republicans, but by the Republicans abdicating their beliefs and platforms in the name of by-partisanship. The political miscreants had practiced in apostasy for way to long and the country was now paying dearly for it. The politically correct crowd has brow beat the country out of prayer in schools. The family unit has gone to hell in a handbag due to government over control and parents abdicating their responsibilities to officials and the education system. There seemed to be no end to their trying to get all mention of religion out of the country in its entirety. After so many tries at immigration reform the problem is no better than it ever was, due once again to the politicians not allowing the laws to be enforced. Everyone was so damn worried about being P.C. that we forgot to pay attention to what was going on. Amnesty was the catch phrase of the day and extended family restoration brought so many illegals in that they sucked the lifeblood from the economy. The environmentalists too have rode rough shod over an unsuspecting public to the point of the U.S. not being able to support it self with energy, and being choked ever so slowly by foreign producers. There were no new refineries, but that didn’t matter much anyway because nearly all oil exploration had grinded to a halt. Needless to say the most efficient and environmentally clean fuel, nuclear power was off the table. Our wonderful lawmakers in their infinite wisdom opened our boarders not only to illegal immigration but to free trade that had all but driven nearly every big business out of the manufacturing sector within the 48 contiguous states. One of the most egregious snafus of all would be the socialized medicine that was forced upon the country in ways that were at first hardly noticeable. Over time it became dreadfully clear that the taxpayers could ill afford all the social programs enacted. Socialized medicine had so many models to point to that just plain ol didn’t work, yet the pusillanimous sycophants we had as politicians insisted upon ramming it down the people’s throats, once again pointing out the folly of a government gone wild with to much power and control, add to that the illegal alien problem and there was a recipe for disaster if ever there was one. The ineptitude of the officials knew no bounds. Finally after a near collapse of the healthcare system all together the wonderful entrepreneurial spirit of the American people took hold. After years of nearly non-existent quality care and waiting interminably for procedures the people were fed up. What happened after that is the story that has brought about this telling.
The people and the medical profession en masse, with the help of some people who are never adverse to making a pile of money off others misfortunes have stepped up to the plate. In some circles there was even what is known as schadenfreude syndrome, which means taking pleasure at others misfortune. As is the case quite often in situations such as what had been brought about, there is never any lack of sleaze. All the dregs came out or should I say crawled out from under their rocks and took advantage of whomever and whatever they possibly could. There grew a black market within the shadow system. However there was more of the money grabbing going on than anything else. All the most talented medical professionals had joined what had become to be known as poly –medicine, or polymed for short. What that was, was talented medical professionals basically joining this cabal a camarilla and going underground so to speak. The socialized system that was put in place was so corrupt and useless that the medical professionals could barely eek out a living. The pay and care was woefully inept. What evolved was no less then what one would expect from a proud and ingenious people with their backs against the wall, a totally innovative way to serve and make a decent living at the same time. The Polymed system had become the care of choice for those who could afford quality healthcare and the socialized system that was left to the hoi-polloi, the common folk, was what everyone else got, except of course any and all political hacks that could avail themselves of these premium services, by hook or by crook. Oh yeah, there had grown a tremendous underground system, a sub-culture and offshoots of businesses. All the medicine companies, the equipment companies, the supply companies and not anywhere near the least, was the omni-present insurance companies. The insurance companies were grabbing money hand over fist, but than again, what else is new. Organs and body parts had become commodities, as did the medical professionals themselves. Body parts acquired by dubious means were available if one had the money, so too were the Medical professionals themselves. There were actually brokers for professional people. That in and of it self was fast becoming a sub-culture in that the people were in classes. There were the doctors, the nurses, right on down to the functionaries and disposal personnel. The disposal companies were having a hey-day also. Whenever you have a system that uses any commodity and that would include biological wastes, you have a need to dispose of them. If you have a shadow society, it would hold that you would need the services that go with it. It was survival of the fittest in the true sense of the word. The government try as they might could not stem the tide of people wanting what they deserved. Not getting what they needed from an overbearing government they turned to their own devises, once again proving that the power lies with the people and always should. In the end after much bleeding and the pendulum swinging way to far the wrong way the people finally took back their country and their power, underscoring those great words, “We The People”.
This scenario as outrageous as it may seem, unfortunately is TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT.

a bit long but a must read

This is enlightening and very scary. I felt compelled to blog Dr. Kaiser's letter

Lest you think it was written by some right-wing kook, David Kaiser is a respected historian whose published works have covered a broad range of topics, from European Warfare to American League Baseball. Born in 1947, the son of a diplomat, Kaiser spent his childhood in three capital cities: Washington D.C., Albany, New York, and Dakar, Senegal. He attended Harvard University, graduating there in 1969 with a B.A. in history. He then spent several years more at Harvard, gaining a PhD in history, which he obtained in 1976. He served in the Army Reserve from 1970 to 1976.

He is a professor in the Strategy and Policy Department of the United States Naval War College and has previously taught at Carnegie Mellon, Williams College and Harvard University. Kaiser's latest book, “The Road to Dallas”, about the Kennedy assassination, was just published by Harvard University Press.

Dr. David Kaiser
"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."
- Barack Obama
History Unfolding

I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books on history that have been published in six languages, and I have studied history all my life. I have come to think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is simply a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it.. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten to fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
(JCS: Re above and below, I say in order to severely wound our country and our economy, and reduce our will to resist.)

We learned just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700 billion we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "we the people," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it simply wants marriage to remain defined as between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?) We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and I know precisely what I am talking about) - the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth.. It is potentially 1929 x ten... And we are at war with an enemy we cannot even name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who, in turn, cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And finally, we have elected a man that no one really knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska . All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe are more important.)

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change. Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning..

As a serious student of history, I thought I would never come to experience what the ordinary, moral German must have felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the "savior" was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they should have known was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory. Conservative "losers" read it right now.

And there were the promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and frowned and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully and beat them into submission. Which they did - regularly. And then, he was duly elected to office, while a full-throttled economic crisis bloomed at hand - the Great Depression. Slowly, but surely he seized the controls of government power, person by person, department by department, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The children of German citizens were at first, encouraged to join a Youth Movement in his name where they were taught exactly what to think. Later, they were required to do so. No Jews of course,
How did he get people on his side? He did it by promising jobs to the jobless, money to the money-less, and rewards for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe , and across the world. He did it with a compliant media - did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and .... . .. change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

If you think I am exaggerating, look it up. It's all there in the history books.

So read your history books. Many people of conscience objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and ridiculed. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though. And the world came to regret that he was not listened to.

Do not forget that Germany was the most educated, the most cultured country in Europe . It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And yet, in less than six years (a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency) it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors.. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me..

I choose to believe the evidence. No doubt some people will scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. To some degree, perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe-and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am. Perhaps the only hope is our vote in the next elections.

The plan is just plain old bad

Obama delivers these hortatory speeches, which get everyone excited about his plans and programs without their thinking about the substance of things. i.e. the stimulus package that was such an emergency that they couldn’t even take time to read it. Oh yeah that is exactly what we need in times of distress, a leader that panics and leads the rest of the solons to panic, that’s just great, that is. No matter how unctuous Obama gets with his touchy feely attitude, the facts remain the same. We simply cannot afford this kind of spending and stay solvent. In case you haven’t noticed we are at present insolvent. To continue along this path is lunacy.
It is near insanity to think we can as a country in extremis support all these programs. If we want to see what will happen we need look no further then California. There, too liberal programs have bankrupt them and now the administration wants to follow California’s lead by enacting much of the same programs and ideology, that’s just whacked.
The press cossets and coddles Obama ad nauseam. How can the average citizen combat the constant barrage and message of the utopian existence under the Obama administration? Everyone wants everything and they want it now. Common sense dictates just exactly the opposite.
This Bailout syndrome has taken hold of the country and will be the destruction of the free market system as we have known it, hell, it already is. China tried it years ago and now they are stuck with the state owned segment of their society/government that is nothing but a boondoggle and an Albatross to their economic system. In other words the Government is the largest employer and they create jobs just to keep the populace busy. They really don’t produce anything that can drive the economy or produce any net revenue. That appears to be the way we are headed. Is any of this making any sense to you, because for the life of me I fail to see the logic or the end game behind this way of doing things.
All this money that we taxpayers have been bilked out of is becoming a ginormous money well that the politicians can dip into whenever they want. The expenditures that were suppose to stimulate are nothing but pork barrel projects that when scrutinized are seen for what they are, namely a giant payback for support and pet projects that have been simmering along till the right moment.
This Acorn thing and the unwillingness to prosecute the New Black Panthers for their part in the voter intimidation is just typical of the politics we are now confronted with. We thought we were getting something new and the new broom would sweep clean. Instead what we got was everyone who disagrees gets swept away and those who chose to join in the debacle and play the game get elevated which leaves the rest of the downtrodden to become scree, talus, detritus and of no consequence whatsoever to the overall scheme of things.
This is not the way of health in this country. We need only look to history to avoid the pitfalls and chose a path of health and wealth. Again I have to ask, what the hell is wrong with these sycophantic idiots?

Where are we headed, again?

Where are we headed?

A government that is becoming totally invasive in our lives is where we are headed. It almost looks like a totalitarian rule. I can’t help but draw a parallel between the U.S. and ancient Rome. Here are just some of the parallels so you get the idea.

The Roman Empire vs The United States

Why is it that we never learn from history? The parallels between the U.S. and the Roman Empire are staggering and so obvious that I don’t see how we can possibly be going down this path once again in the history of mankind on this rock.
The U.S. became a world power much like the R.E.
The U.S. broke away from European oppression.
The R.E. broke away from Greece much in the same way.
The U.S. is a representative republic, so too was the R.E. (sort of)
The country was attacked and or besieged and the attackers failed.
There was a civil war.
Rome depended on the prosperity of their individual towns and cities for their wealth.
Political careers and loans on easy terms could all be had with the proper patron-client relationship.
Rome initiated public education, we know about our public schools.
The elite Romans had the best health care and the common citizens were left to fend for themselves.
Beginning with Augustus Caesar, the city of Rome provided bread, oil and wine to its urban population. What this meant, is that almost 250,000 inhabitants of Rome consumed about 6 million sacks of grain per year, free. Rome provided citizens with food -- it also provided them with entertainment. Sound vaguely familiar?
Rome demonized the Catholics. What is the only faith that is attacked with impunity in the U.S.?
Rome embraced socialism and finally they just could not support all their subjects. Now I know that sounds familiar.
They taxed their people into the Stone Age. Hello!
The people had virtually no say in how things were done. Can we say Senate and Congress?
Just like our politicians they could install their own people. Case in point; Senator Incitatus, Caligula’s horse. We have people equally as bad, we have the buffoon Al Franken who is in the process of winning the senate seat through trickery and tom-foolery, not to mention out and out cheeting and lying.

Now we have mega corruption from Chicago style thuggery. We have ten appointees with either tax evasion problems or under investigation for this or that shady deal. Does this sound at all vaguely familiar to the above parallel?

We have a show of class and a show of childish sore looser syndrome. The class is how Bush did not lower himself to engage in rhetoric about attacks on his administration and the country. When it was transition time all went smoothly, not with childish retribution or payback for some perceived wrongdoing. The childish behavior would be the disgusting show of some sort of vengeance leveled at an incoming president such as the Clinton cabal pulled. Now we are getting the same from Obama’s henchmen. They are intimidating people and constantly berating the previous administration. What ever happened to being above all that in the office of the president? I thought there was this glorious speech from Pelosi about draining the swamp in Washington, well guess what, it is worse now than ever, and what are we to do about it?
The only thing I can see is we have to keep to values and principals of conservatism.
If Liberalism were what it started out to be, then that would be good also, however we have come to a nexus whereby the parties are corrupt and have mutated into some unrecognizable camarilla, the calyx of which lamely passes for politics. We can’t wait for some epiphany or thaumaturgy, because I don’t see any great light dawning or any magic or miracles coming around lately. I believe the country was bamboozled with words of a utopian existence. Many believed such drivel, however those of us who actually think about things were not fooled, oh we held out hope, but weren’t laboring under any false impressions or dilutions of grandeur on the part of our wonderful elected solons.
The government is becoming so intrusive that we now have to use the kind of light bulbs they say. (Which by the way are far worse for the environment than incandescent bulbs.) We have to eat what they want, drive what they want and act how they want. It is even coming to, we have to say what they want, the way they want, if we don’t we are racists, bigots, homophobes, or we don’t know what we are talking about. Global warming has become religion-like. The hell with science, let’s use demagoguery to turn people to our way of thinking. I hope and pray for a solid candidate that will stop all this insanity and get us back on the track to being, “the shining city on the hill.”
What does it come down to? Common sense, and perhaps a good long look at what exactly our representatives are doing. Above all, we must at all costs not empower one party to run roughshod over the citizens of our country. It is quickly becoming a country that is unrecognizable to our founding fathers and even the older generations. As the slogan says around here; “of course you can trust the government, just ask an Indian.” That pretty much says it all.

What the hell ?

What was Obama thinking? Veterans paying for their own insurance, or at least their own insurance company paying instead of the people of the United States that owe everything they have to the people who keep us safe. Oh boy the veteran’s administration would save $530 mil. A year, big whoop! These guys are spending like insane Zillas and they want to turn their backs on our vets. I’ll tell you what, they don’t want to find themselves in a dark alley with me, I’ll give them something to claim on their insurance. How about this, instead of the Senate and Congress getting the cream of all the benefits, they get regular stuff like the rest of us, and the vets get their insurance package.
Granted after much pressure Obama retracted his proposal, but gees man what was he thinking in the first place?

I don’t want to beat this AIG thing to death but if the government goes after a specific entity or person isn’t that what is called a bill or writ of Attainder and isn't it totally unconstitutional? I believe so. Okay, I found the definition; A bill of attainder (also known as an act or writ of attainder) is an act of legislature declaring a person or group of persons guilty of some crime and punishing them without benefit of a trial. Bills of attainder are forbidden by Article I, section 9, clause 3 of the United States Constitution. (ref. on line legal dictionary) As I said before this stuff was all agreed to in the noseeum stimulus package. Now we have all the solons in high dudgeon and righteous indignation running around blaming everyone else for their ineptitude. The temerity has no bounds with these cretins and mooncalves.

I cry for my country

What has happened to my country? We are just throwing money at things, the good after the bad. There is no common sense. The ginormous spending bills are not allowed to be scrutinized. What have we come to, a dictatorship? It seems no one is trying to actually solve any problems, just make more by increasing the deficit.

This Detroit school system thing is outrageous and typical. Obama wants to throw 530 mil. at a system that is missing 54 mil. and has already had way too much money thrown at a totally failed system. With only a 35 percent graduation rate and only 5 percent ready for collage, the system needs a total make over not just a blank check. The system had a deficit of 200mil last year and 3 superintendents have been fired, 18 of 19 schools are on the verge of failure and this is the system he wants to turn his back on and just give them money to go away. We are going to have to take a long hard look at the failed systems and make some hard decisions. You can’t take away the choice system, the voucher system and expect not to have people think they were hung out to dry, guess what, they are.

Obama wants to banish the phrase enemy combatant, he wants to close Gitmo and confer all legal rights afforded law-abiding citizens of the U.S. He wants to not use the words war on terror, again, where are we?

If things keep going this way, sadly, all too soon our country will not be recognizable.
We have lost 11trillion dollars worth of wealth since the stock market started its plummet.
We have tax increases on the way next year. How can any compassionate group of people do such a thing in such stressed times. They want to punish people that are the backbone of the country who make over 250k. That would be 70 percent of small businesses that make up the majority of jobs in this country. Tax cuts for the so-called rich are the ones that create jobs. I have never seen a poor person give anyone a job.

Talk about draconian rules. Pelosi won’t allow bills to be submitted by republicans and won’t even allow amendments to try and find a more sensible answer to this mess.

What about the Fairness doctrine, wire taps, the Patriot act?
If some have their way we will be in a socialistic society and will have few if any rights left that were afforded us by our constitution. The sworn enemies of our country will hold all the cards and we will be left holding the bag. That bag folks is full of crap. As a matter of fact I would say it is a blivit. A blivit is ten pounds of crap in a five pound bag and when you open it guess what? It’s going to hit the rotating finned air delivery service. That is what, allegorically speaking, we will have.

Missouri State Police are directed to use extreme caution if they see a bumper sticker from a third party on a car (i.e. Ron Paul etc.) the state government claims that it is possible they are subversive and dangerous. Once again, will somebody tell me where it is we are living?

Eminent Domain; (the state and local mostly) government has taken many private homes and land for the purpose of building the tax base not for the betterment of the general public. Their argument is that more tax is for the betterment of the public. That is not what that law was set up for at all, and they damn well know it. There are documented cases where old veterans are evicted, long time businesses are shut down and a similar business put in its place, yet the original proprietor is not allowed to put his business there, it has to be the chain the municipality wants in place. A car dealership needed more parking space, so a landmark old business is being pushed out to accommodate the dealership that has the political clout. What county is this again?

This AIG thing is such a boondoggle. Last year when Tim Geithner was in on the deal to fix AIG and the stimulus/bailout the government knew perfectly well that those contracts were in place. They signed the package with that information in it. Now that people have time to actually look at the stimulus package they are finding out some of the agreements aren’t all that fantastic. That’s what you get for slamming a bill in before anyone can scrutinize it.
Those bonuses are actually severance packages. Everyone keeps wining about firing the screw-ups, well that is what they are doing. The money is part of the severance. Do they deserve it? Not in my view. If you allow the government to break agreements and what amounts to a contract, then what kind of a country are we looking at here?

I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t enjoy getting played like this. Where was the outrage when we bailed out Lehman Brothers? They gave out 2.5 Billion not a mere 165 mil. How is it that someone can run a company up on the rocks and get a bonus for it? Doesn’t make sense, does it? If you or I screw up, it’s hasta la vista baby.

Okay here is how to fix this fix we are in right off.
(1) Initiate immediate tax cuts across the board.
(2) Lower the capital gains tax.
(3) Remove the death tax
(4) Encourage not discourage businesses by offering incentives not penalties for investing.
(5) Medical concerns: allow competitive private sector insurance, not government control.

You get the idea here, it’s really not rocket surgery. You may ask, “how do we pay for all this stuff"? That my friends is the coup de gras. It would be time for Obama to actually keep one of his promises, i.e. cut useless and non effective waste and programs out of the budget.
Plus if you guarantee these initiatives for 4 years that will blast the stock market back up, housing will once again become viable and there will be liquidity in lending.

Now if you and I can figure this out by just looking back at historic events, why is it that all those supposed frigg’n brainstorms keep pulling a Barney (i.e. reference Barney Frank/ Chris Dodd, a couple of the architects behind this debacle)?

Where are we headed?

President Barack Obama has sent a secret letter to Russia offering a nuclear trade-off.
Obama offered to back off deploying a new missile defense system in Eastern Europe if Russia helps stop Iran from building nuclear weapons, American media reported. Obama offered the deal in a letter hand-delivered to Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in Moscow last month by top administration officials. Senior U.S. officials confirmed the report.' The letter touched on a range of subjects, including missile defense and how it relates to the Iranian threat,' an official stated. Russia vehemently opposes the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic. The system was proposed by the administration of former President George Bush.
Moscow has not yet responded to Obama's offer, the report said. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov inGeneva Friday.
William Burns, the State Department's political director and a former U.S. ambassador to Russia, went to Moscow in February to help prepare for that meeting and to broach ideas to improve ties.

If you don’t agree with all of Obama’s policies, take heart, there is one person who agrees with nearly all his policies and says that we have a friend and ally in the White House. Oh, did I forget to mention his name? Sam Webb, the head of the American Communist party.

What the hell is going on?
Okay, first we are spending more money in three months than every president since Washington to Bush, which will in effect indebt the next two generations. The illusion that Barack Obama will lead from the economic center has quickly come to an end. Instead of combining the best policies of past Democratic presidents -- John Kennedy on taxes, Bill Clinton on welfare reform and a balanced budget, President Obama is returning to Jimmy Carter's higher taxes and Clinton's draconian defense drawdown. Obama's $3.6 trillion budget blueprint, by his own admission, redefines the role of government in our economy and society. The budget more than doubles the national debt held by the public, adding more to the debt than all previous presidents -- from George Washington to George W. Bush -- combined. It reduces defense spending to a level not sustained since the dangerous days before World War II, while increasing nondefense spending (relative to GDP) to the highest level in U.S. history. It would raise taxes to historically high levels (again, relative to GDP). All of this before even addressing the impending explosion in Social Security and Medicare costs because of all the baby boomers.
Now we have secret letters, secret talks with Dmitry Medvedev on behalf of Obama to hold off on deployment of the missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic. That may not be such a bad idea, but where is it leading us? Appeasement just simply will not work with some factions.
Get this, the war in Afghanistan is to tough for poor little Barry now that reality has smacked him square in the face, so now he wants to appeal to the more moderate Taliban and make some sort of appeasement deal, what the F*** is that? more moderate Taliban is an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Anyone who has not been either living in a vacuum, or under a rock, knows that the main goal of the Taliban is to terrorize and eliminate the infidels. There is no making a deal unless in includes everyone convert to Islam and do as they say, oh yeah and they decide who gets to live or die at their whim. They are a bunch of nut jobs looking to enslave the world. The temerity of this administration is becoming tiresome and it has just begun.

This is what I see; a total collapse of our system, as we know it, a mass exodus of companies from the U.S., a redistribution of wealth till we run out of other people’s money, that is just for beginners. That of course is supposing that all these policies are carried out.

Here is the problem; Obama has some ideas that have merit, however you can’t do everything all at once, it doesn’t even make sense to try, yet here we are. The shotgun approach is not the way to go at this juncture. We need precision marksmanship. The thing to do is concentrate on the core problems, get that part of the economy back on track and then address the other problems. Right now the democrat controlled administration and congress are running wild like kids in a candy shop. They have saved up all their Christmas lists for the last forty years and are now going bugshit with it. (By the way, that word “bugshit,” is held in very high regard in argot, lexicon and etymology circles.)

spending spree

Yet another insane spending plan, 3.6 trillion, that is 3,600.000.000.000.00 budget.
What’s next? Million, Billion, Trillion, Quadrillion, Quintillion, Hexillion, Septillion, Octillion, Nonillion, Decillion, Undecillion, Dodecillion and on and on, these are the Latin prefixes for denominational increases. A million use to be a lot of money, now it’s chump change.
Obama and Congress has the dubious distinction of being the man and the people who have spent more that any other person or people in the history of mankind, and get this, it isn’t near over and he has only been there for a month. We thought Bush spent like a crazed lunatic. These guys make him look like a piker.
Omnibus, Definition: Pertaining to, including, or dealing with numerous objects or items at once: an omnibus bill submitted to a legislature.
They did nothing but complain about George Bush and yet now they are saying because of the budget cutbacks of Bush they need to spend all this money, well which is it, that he spent too much, or that he cut back, they can’t have it both ways. No one has ever spent this much money so quickly. It almost looks to me that they are trying desperately to bankrupt the country, a.k.a. the taxpayer.
Are these guys out of their minds? Did you see some of the crap that they want us to pay for? They already passed it, so we are paying for it.
Whatever happened to campaign promises. I thought we were looking forward to a new Washington without earmarks. This new omnibus $410 billion spending bill has 9,000 earmarks. Many of which look ridiculous at first glance, however at closer inspection some actually do have some redeeming qualities.
Modesto bee: We know there have been beehive problems the last few years and without bees we get nothing to eat.
Tattoo removal: This on it’s face looks foolish and stupid, but if you have a former gang member that wishes to become a productive member of society, he or she will have to expunge all traces of affiliation with gangs and removing the tats is what this money is for.
Fruit fly: I suppose when you look at the individual earmarks some are worthy. If the fruit flies attack the crops, the citrus and the rest of the growers will go belly up and we will have no food once again, add to that the corn they are using for fuel and there is another disaster in the making.
The Maine lobster earmark: is another one that researches farming lobsters to improve the market and the availability.
Foot odor research: Something smells funny here.
School voucher program in D.C. bye, bye
Bush tax cuts: bye, bye
Universal healthcare: $634 Billion, and that is only a down payment. Are we beginning to see the irony of this? In times when everyone in government keeps telling us that we have to cut back and be frugal, Washington is spending like there is no tomorrow, guess what, they keep this up and there will be no tomorrow.

Address to Congress

Okay, so I didn’t watch the President’s speech to Congress last night, 2/24/09. I did however download the text. I must say I am encouraged. I was exceedingly happy to not hear him just Bush bashing, or engaging in nocuous rhetoric, after all Bush didn’t actually bring this problem about either. It was years of poor decisions by Washington, putting the hard decisions off, as well as greed, which culminated in this implosion. Then there was the basically mandatory lending to anyone and everyone. Those regulations should have been abolished. That community redevelopment act had some good to it, but now look at the mess we are in. Some of the verbiage in those plans should have been rewritten. The same thing is going to happen with this stimulus package, you wait and see. Some of the details were nothing but a recipe for disaster, and unfortunately our representatives chose to either ignore it, or worse, encourage it.
To peculate, or peculation is when someone steals money or goods entrusted to an individual or a group. I would say that the crooks of Wall Street, and our elected officials fit that description to a tee wouldn’t you?
I was glad to see that the doom and gloom rhetoric is coming to an end. What we need is more optimistic outlooks. I take exception with some of the ways Obama wants to reach his goals, but in the final analysis if the end result is what we want than I say, do it. However, and this is a big one, I fail to see how what he proposes will achieve the desired results. It seems to me as I have stated in the past that the more direct route to this stimulus would be the way to go. I really can’t see these politicians having that much money at their disposal and them not feel compelled to squander it. If history has taught us anything at all it should be that if you try the same thing time and time again and get the same results, namely bad results, it would only make sense to do something different. I know that is what we are suppose to be getting with this administration, but I only see the same ol finagling, just wrapped in a different package. As I said, I have serious doubts about the way they are going at it and I wish I were wrong, but I only see a giant cluster **** going on in Washington. (That ellipsis of the stars is because, unlike Blagojavich and some of his cronies, I see no need to be obscene here, but there is a need for expletives in certain circumstances and when dealing with politicians it quite often becomes necessary.) Well guys, I guess it remains to be seen whether any of this will work. When it all shakes out, I just don’t think it should have taken that much of our, as yet not earned, hard earned dollars to accomplish this task.

The day America died

Well it started with Bush and ran right on through the new administration. Actually it started back with Roosevelt and the new deal. It should have been called the raw deal. Oh it had its good and bad points, but it started us down the road to socialism. I’ll try to stay on track here though, I don’t want to get bogged down in history, I will stay with our modern day problems. On February 17, the year of our Lord 2009 the U.S. government took a giant step backwards. President Barack Obama signed a stimulus package for $787bn. That folks, is the largest transfer of your tax dollars in history that you and I haven’t even paid in yet, you know what that means don’t you? Our children and we will be on the hook for this for a long time. Their answer is going to be to print more money. Has any of these knuckleheads ever even looked at any kind of an economic plan? Even a fifth grader knows, the more you have the less it is worth. Our current creditors are in the same soup and are not able to lend any more money for our folly, therefore the answer is to print money. What! Am I the only one who sees this problem? Okay I know I’m not, but hell’s bells, can no one stop this runaway train before it derails? I know that is what Obama and his cronies say they are trying to do, but do they have to settle all their debts at the same time? Payback really is a bitch. Clinton said the era of big government was over, that was one thing he did a good job with, welfare reform, and not letting government swallow up the people. Now we have a reversal of the welfare reform act, 30 mil. For Nancy Pelosi's salt marsh mouse, give me a break. Now they haven’t even got started on wasting our money and they are talking another package. I can’t believe how they rode rough shod over the people, the Senate and Congress. I am so pissed at senators Specter, Snow and Collins I will never vote for those two turn coats again (frigg’n Benedict Arnolds) If they had not sold out, the bill would still be in debate and therefore scrutinized and maybe we wouldn’t have half the pork that is in there, but all this was pretty much axiomatic, wasn’t it. We knew that whoever the people in power were would push their own agenda. It’s just too bad that we the taxpayer have to foot the bill for political payback. I do not believe that there was that much of an emergency to get this passed and by the way, neither does the Primary congressional agency charged with reviewing congressional budgets and other legislative initiatives with budgetary implications, "the Congressional Budget Office." They actually believe the economy will recover with more health and vigor without the stimulus than with it. I don’t know about that, I think we needed something as I said before in another Blog tirade, however the way this was done is bordering on insanity.
Does anyone really think that this was done in the spur of the moment? Come on, it is over a thousand pages. It has a $8 Bil earmark for a Maglev high speed train line from Anaheim California to Las Vegas that they have been trying to get funded for years. As I said, I don’t want to get off track here (pun), but this stuff has been in the works for a long time and finally they got to a point where they could stuff everything in one big barrel of pork. The next generations and we are going to be paying dearly for this. The package has what they are calling universal health care instead of socialized medicine; here we go again with the semantics, I guess it depends on what the definition of is, is. These guys are wearing me out already and they are only getting started.
The reason for the headline is that this country was founded on the antithesis of what we are now heading for, i.e. small government, the people in control, not politicians, however I guess since we are not a democracy, but a representative republic, we have to allow our elected officials some license. The problem arises when they do what “they” want not what “we” want.
As we all know this country was born on the premise of freedom, freedom for the people to pursue their dream, freedom from government to control your life, freedom to win, freedom to become self sufficient, freedom to become rich, and freedom in a capitalist society to fail, pick yourself up and like the mythical phoenix rise from the ashes and become stronger and smarter, so next time you don’t make the same mistakes. Our government is taking us down the opposite road where everyone is becoming dependant upon the government to survive. These brainstorms seem to think they can make it work this way, Oh yeah! Ask the Romans if it worked, ask Europe if it worked, ask Russia if it worked, ask anyone anywhere that socialism was tried if it worked. The answer to that question would be a resounding, NO.
By the way all these supposed intelligentsia think they know what they are doing, like the liberal bastion of the US, the state of California, that is now in failure mode. if spending were the answer, why don’t they follow the feds. lead and just spend their way out of it? Because it doesn’t work, hello! Remember that dumb ol Sarah Palin? Well when her state had a good fiscal outlook and the money was rolling in she didn’t go bugshit growing government and spending like there was no tomorrow, she put money aside for just this type of scenario. Alaska now has billions put aside in the general fund and billions more in specific funds such as education and R&D, while all these other oh so smart people are running the rest of the states down the tubes. Oh yeah, even though things are looking good for them she is still asking for budget cuts, now I don’t know about you, but that is the kind of person I would want in charge of my state or federal finances not Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, hell you could go on and on. It’s like we are dealing with some bogus law firm of “Dewy Cheatham and Howe” instead of what is suppose to be our representatives that are looking out for our best interests.
Then we get Barack Obama appointing Jeffery Immelt, the CEO of GE as an adviser, who ran GE down from a thriving company to a thirteen year low, off by $152 mil. 47% now we get the chance to have him do the same with our money and economy, oh goody. What the F*** is going on here? Are we headed for another civil war? This one perhaps political and financial in nature, but nonetheless a civil war, with a little Boston Tea Party thrown in. That is why I say this country, as we know it is on the edge of the cliff and our leaders are pushing it of into the abyss.

Boondoggle

If you don’t think we have made one of the biggest mistakes of all time in this country, check out the economic stimulus package with all it’s pork and special interest language and then look at definition number three and four from the unabridged dictionary of Random House.

These supposed solons are now using semantics to get around calling things what they really are. The recognized and accepted meaning of earmarks or pork barrel spending has been for a specific senator to attach to a bill something that will benefit his own constituency, now instead of that they just fill the bill up with special projects right from the get go and that way they can say, pork, what pork, “there is no pork.” What was formerly known as pork and special interest projects is now part and parcel of the bill, ergo, no pork, I say Bovine excrement! A rose, is a rose, is a rose, as Casey Stengel was fond of saying. He was great for taking a classic quote such as, “a rose by any other name would smell as sweet,” by William Shakespeare, and tuning it into something entirely different, sound familiar? Yes, our lawmakers and governing bodies are using words to further their own agendas and payback schemes, this is simply disgusting. I say if you want to pass a bill, then do so with openness and honesty, don’t try and ram it down the throats of the taxpayers and not allow enough time for it to be examined. What should have been done was this; Use a scalpel not a machete. They should have cut payroll taxes and corporate taxes immediately, thereby giving money to the taxpayer and allowing corporations and citizens alike to count on a regular increase on a weekly and monthly basis. That would enable growth instantly and sustainable investment and expenditures. If then there was a need for more infrastructure and long-term investment the people, Congress, and senate would have time to pare down what was needed and to target specific projects. The American taxpayer, the Congress and the Senate wouldn’t have to be subjected to this slight of hand, or of mouth as is the case, to get this past and everyone would feel much better about our leaders, especially if we could have done it for around half the price, that’s right, from what I can gather, this could be done for around 4 to 5 hundred billion, by the time all is said and done, this plus the other stimuli packages will accrue to over $2,000,000,000,000.00 Yep, over two trillion. This bill could have worked tremendously better, faster and with more efficacy than the “boondoggle” we now face. I’m not sure if anyone put this forward or not, I tend to think there was some of this from some Republican Senator somewhere. It doesn’t matter who put a common sense bill forward, it should be taken into consideration not dismissed as of no consequence whatsoever. Instead of putting the commonsense approach to the problem and moving forward, they became froward, that is, they became unmanageable, unruly and contrary just like the bill they want to adopt. It’s not asking that much considering the expenditure to give the entire governing body and the people a look at the bill, allowing time for the constituency to guide their respective representatives and to expurgate the offensive language and proposals from this tome of over a thousand pages. What has happened to the transparency and allowing the American people and our representatives to have a say and input before such a bill were past as in the campaign speeches that were given. I feel a pall overtaking our system and our way of life that will change our country forever. That is not the kind of change we expected.
By the way, another appointee has left the ranks. This time it was Judd Gregg Senator from New Hampshire (R) only this time it was not because of non-payment of taxes or pay for play allegations but because of moral, ethical and ideological differences sighted by the Senator, imagine that, no wrong doing, what is this world coming to?
I believe the main complaint was the moving of census statistics to the white house staff instead of the department of Commerce. That my friends is the sneaky trick that can disenfranchise and put the boots to many American. You may ask how? I’m about to tell you. Instead of many layers insulating the process of distribution of funds and the checks and balances, it now becomes the sole responsibility of the White House and specifically Rahm Emanuel, White House Chief of Staff.
That would make an essentially apolitical entity notoriously political, don’t forget we are talking about Rahm-bo, if you don’t agree with him, don’t fall asleep, it may be hazardous to you political health. Okay, that would allow redistricting, gerrymandering, a decennial redrawing of congressional districts, thereby enabling them to direct the money to where they want, not where it is needed.
This is scary; we are only a few weeks into this new administration and look at the stuff that is going on. I know they want to hit the ground running but do they have to trample the American way of life and citizens to do it?
Sometimes change is not a good thing.

what's in a word?

What is the difference between these two words, defalcate and defecate? Oh wait let me see, there seems to be no difference whatsoever between these two words when it comes to politicians. With one you get crapped on and with the other you get crapped on. Defalcate means; to steal or misuse money or property entrusted to one's care. Defecate of course means, to void excrement from the bowels through the anus; have a bowel movement. Once again it is very hard to tell, because the fecal matter spews forth out of their mouths as well as their butts, so what are the citizens of our country to do? We try to elect who we think will do a decent job and look what we get, scandal after scandal. Do any of those guys in Washington pay any attention to our laws? Do you remember the congressional check cashing scandal? In the late 1980s and the 1990s Congress faced a series of scandals relating to questionable fund-raising practices and abuses of congressional privileges. House Speaker Jim Wright resigned from Congress in 1989 after an ethics investigation into a controversial book deal that he used to get around fund-raising limits. In 1991 investigations revealed that several hundred House members had written bad checks that had been paid by the House “bank,” in effect taking personal interest-free loans from the government. Voters replaced many members implicated in that affair. The bank was actually a House business office that offered check-cashing services. Dating back to the 1830s, the office had for about 40 years honored overdrafts from members of Congress as an advance against their next month’s salary deposits. These knuckleheads weren’t happy to get a good deal, oh no, they had to over do to the point of criminal deeds. Some of those checks were written on known defunct accounts that had nothing in them. If you or I had done that it would be called, “negotiating a worthless instrument,” by the way, that is a felony.

Now we have Daschle's resignation who was nominated to be secretary of health and human services, which came hours after Nancy Killefer's withdrawal as Obama's chief performance officer, whatever the hell that is, who was just one in a line of screw ups. Let's not forget Governor Bill Richardson who had to withdraw as secretary of commerce, Geithner who didn’t pay taxes and is now the secretary of the treasury, not to mention that flaming frigg’n idiot up in Minnesota, Al Franken, what a piece of work that guy is. The worst part about that fiasco is, he not only has the demeanor of a fool, but the heart of a larcenist and he actually has a shot at stealing that election.

What is it with this guy Obama anyway, he just picks one poor association after another right from the get go. Unfortunately in this case being faithful to your friends and associates is not a quality to be emulated. He sticks by these malefactors till public opinion or some other controlling body puts a halt to them. Now he has picked a person (David Ogden) to be the deputy Attorney General of the United States of America who is a lawyer that defends child pornography. Look I am perfectly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, now here comes the but, between this insane stimulus package and his judgment sucking, I just don’t know where we are heading. Is this what we get? Plus we get this bill that is jokingly called a “stimulus package” which is nothing more than a giant Christmas present and payback for all the favors and pet projects that any Democrat could ever possibly come up with, what! Are they insane? At a time like this with everyone in the country accept politicians hurting, they have to go playing games of money and power grab, which is not only disgusting and disgraceful, it is morally and ethically reprehensible. I have to say that at least Obama is looking into limiting the bonuses that the big CEOs get if the company they work for gets our hard earn tax money for a bailout. I’m not for government telling corporations how much they can earn or spend, but if it’s my money, and therefore I own a share in the company, I want to make damn well sure they are not playing the high roller at my expense. Hey how about this? Since we the taxpayers are now shareholders in these companies that we are bailing out, when they start raking in the dough again do we all get a share of the profits? I vote YES.

Have you guys been checking out the money grab these knuckleheads have been trying to perpetrate upon the unsuspecting taxpayer? I mean it’s just ludicrous. There is so much that if I went into it here it would take a couple of pages. Things like American Samoa commerce, ATV tracks, abortion for foreign countries, zoo renovations, water theme park, in of all places Florida, yeah they really need yet another one of those down there. This one is near and dear to us, 4.8 mil for a polar bear exhibit in Roger Williams Park in Providence, 6.1 mil for corporate jet hangers Fayetteville, Arkansas, airport, $20 million for renovations at the Philadelphia Zoo; and a $1.5 million program to reduce prostitution in Dayton, Ohio. a proposed $20 million minor league baseball museum in Durham, North Carolina. As I said, I could go on and on, but you are getting the idea here. I know many say that all these wacky proposals will create jobs, they may well, but that will be down the road a bit. They keep talking about, “we have to do something right now,” well then shouldn’t they give us our money back so we can spend it and jumpstart the economy immediately?
The question is this: how do we get these wingnuts out of office? Can anyone say Blagojavich? How many times have we seen and heard about corrupt and inept solons getting re-elected time and time again, ok, now can anyone say Kennedy? Speaking of Kennedy, R.F.K. Jr. just reasserted in front of a House Judiciary Committee he believes that big hog farms are more of a threat to the U.S. than Osama Bin Laden, now I agree he did a great job on cleaning up the Hudson River, but that kind of talk makes one wonder if he should be allowed out in public. Then we have Rahm Emanuel, The White house chief of staff who is fond of sending dead fish to those who disagree with him. If you have ever seen the God Father you know what that means, if not it means you sleep with the fishes, cement overshoes, get it? I’m sure he did it as more of a threat than an actual statement, nonetheless do we really want a guy like that in there? How about Eric Holder head of the Justice Department (attorney General) who along with Clinton worked to release 16 Puerto Rican terrorists. Here is an excerpt from the proceedings; the Attorney general nominee Eric H. Holder Jr. repeatedly pushed some of his subordinates at the Clinton Justice Department to drop their opposition to a controversial 1999 grant of clemency to 16 members of two violent Puerto Rican nationalist organizations, according to interviews and documents…
…President Clinton’s decision to commute prison terms caused an uproar at the time. Holder was called before Congress to explain his role but declined to answer numerous questions from angry lawmakers demanding to know why the Justice Department had not sided with the FBI, federal prosecutors and other law enforcement officials, who were vehemently opposed to the grants. Also in that freeing frenzy they pardoned Mark Rich. Here is an excerpt from Time magzine's article; In 1983, financier Rich was indicted for evading more than $48 million in taxes, and charged with 51 counts of tax fraud, as well as running illegal oil deals with Iran during the 1979-1980 hostage crisis. During his last week in office, President Bill Clinton pardoned Rich, who had fled the U.S. during his prosecution and was residing in Switzerland. Clinton's eleventh-hour move, along with pardons of his half-brother, Roger, and former business partner Susan McDougal, outraged Republicans and Democrats alike. The Rich pardon sparked an investigation into whether it was bought by the hefty donations Rich's ex-wife, Denise, had given to the Clintons and the Democrats. In the end, investigators did not find enough evidence to indict Clinton.

How about the Governor of Michigan, Jennifer M. Granholm, and she is one of Obama’s advisors, so what? is she going to run the country into the ground like she did Detroit? Duval Patrick, I guess not much needs to be said there.
Here is what I’m getting out of this. Obama is coming from a whole other place than you or I. He comes from the most corrupt political environment in the country, “Chicago Politics,” So when he nominates these transgressors he thinks they are just fine, but when the vetting starts the rest of the country and some of the worthwhile politicians take great exception at the past and present dealings of these rapscallions. So maybe it’s not just that his judgment sucks, maybe it’s that he just plays at a more corrupt level than the rest of us, ergo he thinks being a lawbreaker and doing whatever is good for number one is high on the agenda and nominating thieves and scoundrels is perfectly okay.

No one party holds sway over right or wrong, however we need to do something before our country is no more.

So what is the solution? I wish I had one, other than throw them all out and start over, I don’t know.

You make a lot of good points.

Good thing we don't have a tyrannical form of government and/or we’re not ruled by a dictator. We have the House of Representatives and Congress to evade (hopefully) any absurd decisions that the president will make.

However, we were all immigrants at one time or another (barring Native Americans of course). If you think about it; our ancestors were illegal’s. I’m pretty sure the pilgrims weren’t sworn in when they stepped on that rock in Plymouth. We can thank the antediluvian charting system that guided the lads here. Bet the natives weren’t too happy though. Guess they didn’t have a Radio Shack nearby that carried a quality GPS :^}

I absolutely do not agree with giving the illegitimate newcomers everything for free. Nonetheless, if they’re going to be in this country anyway put'em to work and on the books. Make them accountable and pay taxes like the majority of us. At least we may (Current US Citizens) get something out of them.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the reason why Cal. is going bankrupt is due to illegal’s working in the state and not paying in to the communities. My bet is their sending the money home. My apologies if this statement is inaccurate. I’m not as current in respect to California politics and affairs.

As far as the energy policies go: this country, or any country for that matter, can not continue to be dependent on fossil fuels. We need not repudiate and invest in alternative energy sources. I certainly didn’t get the warm and fuzzy from the McCain campaign.

I totally agree with you in regard to Homeland Security so I have nothing to say here.

woe is me

Where do I even start? I know it has been forever, but I was kind of waiting for the shock to wear off. The shock being I can’t believe that for the first time in the history of this nation there has never been a less informed electorate vote for such a woefully inexperienced person and a lot of them love it. The policies are ludicrous; I have yet to hear any economist of notoriety agree with wheat is proposed. Add to that the tremendous amount of ridiculous projects that are going to be funded, the give away of what amounts to welfare for people who haven’t paid in and income tax and yet are going to get a rebate. My head is about to explode with the overwhelming stupidity that knows no bounds in this government. Bush spent like a crazed lunatic and Obama wants to increase the very thing that got us into this situation. Then we have the new gentler policies that are going to be put forth by Pinnetta. What are they thinking? They are just inviting terrorists to hit us by lessening the vigilance of homeland security. The Illegal alien problem is going to bankrupt the rest of the country as it is California, and they want to grant amnesty and give them free everything.

The energy policy in this country is an embarrassment, here is a for instance; Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason
given for establishing the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter Administration?
Anybody?
Anything?
No?
Didn't think so.
Bottom line ... we've spent several hundred billion dollars supporting an agency, the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember.
Ready? It was very simple, and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate:
The Department of Energy was instituted 8-04-1977 TO
LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Hey, pretty efficient, huh?
NOW IT'S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER,
THIS 'ESSENTIAL' DEPARTMENT'S BUDGET IS $24.2 BILLION A YEAR,
THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE!
This is where you have to wrap your head with Duct tape so it won’t explode,
and say: "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?"
Ah yes, good ole bureaucracy!
Now they want to turn our banking system over to these clowns and control major giant companies. “Lord have mercy” This could go on literally for pages and pages, but you get the gist.

I shudder to think of what this country will look like. If you take California as an example you probably have a microcosm of what it will look like. You will have hard working people paying for slackers. You will have U.S. citizens footing the bill for illegal aliens. I’m not saying that many of them aren’t hard working, but what don’t they get about ILEGAL. I saw an interview with Vincente Fox; it was about his new book. At no time did he mention the word illegal throughout the whole book. He and Juan Hernandez together with Obama and people like McCain will ruin this country as sure as welfare checks come out on the first of the month.
You put that together with taking the teeth out of homeland security and the other knuckle-headed ideas they want to enact and you have a recipe for disaster if ever I saw one.

Well if I can bring myself to overcome my general malaise about this situation I will post more goodies.
